1) CARBON AUDITS

EcoSol conducted the French International School (F.I.S.) carbon audit, from March to May 2009. FIS was the first Hong Kong School to conduct a carbon audit and engage in a measured emission reduction program. Ecosol provided the school not only with the full audit on internal and external emissions but as well with in-depth emission reduction strategies and educational support for the school to use as a tool in the curriculum.

2) CARBON SERVICES

Catherine Touzard extended her ability to assess projects on the greenhouse gas effects by obtaining the ISO 14064 auditor certification and in March, the French methodology Bilan Carbone. She is now an ADEME licencee, and can carry out carbon audits for organisations and companies alike.

ECOSOL’s vocation is:

- to help determine ways to develop activities and projects in a sustainable way, specifically with a control and minimization of the GHG emissions.
- to use carbon audits as an educational tool for a better understanding of environmental challenges and how our activities impact the world’s thermal balance.

The specifics of ECOSOL in its global warming assessment approach is in the consideration and integration of other relevant environmental impacts into the audit and strategies.

ECOSOL is working with API Eco-audit for carbon assessment in China and Hong Kong.

A neutral carbon company itself, API Eco-audit is a partner of carbon fund and offers carbon off-setting.

API Audit is part of the Hong-Kong based API group of companies specialized in Quality Assurance services since 1994. API audit specializes in ethical and environmental compliance on-site audits for large importers, buying offices and manufacturers sourcing consumer goods from Asia. API is able to offer customized audit and training services for large organizations seeking to establish truly sustainable and ethical supply chain systems.

3) EDUCATIONAL CARBON PROGRAM

EcoSol provides educational tools and presentations to staffs, students, teachers from carbon audited organizations or any interested party.

Our vocation is that the audited entity can decrease its carbon footprint while leading a larger community to take GHG emission reduction measure as well.

For instance, F.I.S. carbon audit results were transmitted to all students, teachers and parents, bringing an extended community of people to learn about global warming effects and sources, and how they can reduce their own impact.

4) ECOSOL and Global Warming

Before global warming officially became a global threat, Catherine started working in early 2003, on a project integrating reduction of carbon emissions and protection of carbon sinks to environmental and human sustainability.

The project involved building biogas pools and introducing gas stoves in high mountainous regions of Northern Sichuan (China). This avoided wood consumption, provided a poor population with inexpensive renewable energy, enhanced indoor air pollution and sanitation and protected the local forest and wildlife habitat.

This project’s feasibility study was conducted by Catherine Touzard, in cooperation with students from Beijing University of Forestry (BeiLin), eventually being approved and financed by the Veolia Foundation. It was then integrated locally to an NGO working in Sichuan on poverty alleviation. Heifer supervised the project within Catherine’s coordination until March 2007.
